The summer blockbuster seasons is almost over and while it’s been pretty terrific. there have been some lackluster showings too. I’m looking at you ‘The Amazing Spiderman 2’ and ‘Godzilla’.

After the last two major studio releases this month, which are ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’, the summer season’s pretty much over. And now, comes the fall.

I remember being disappointed in last year’s summer season. I really didn’t enjoy ‘Man of Steal’ or ‘Iron Man 3’ and am morally opposed to the total butchering of the beloved villain Kahn Noonian Singh in ‘Star Trek: Into Darkness.’ I did however absolutely love the fall season last year, which had ‘12 Years a Slave’ and ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’.

The next young adult book series to be turned into a film comes out in late September. That one is called ‘The Maze Runner’ but after seeing the trailer, I think I may skip it. It looks like nothing I haven’t seen before.

I personally can’t wait for the first conclusionary film of ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise in ‘The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part 1.’ If the teaser trailers are any induction, I predict a darker, more action packed film with an emphasis on the socio-political issues brought up in the books. If executed well, it might just be my favourite film of 2014. To note: My favourite film of last year was ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ and even today, I stand by that decision.

Here is a list of my remaining most anticipated films of 2014 and their release dates. In order of their release:

1. Gone Girl (Oct. 3)

2. The Interview (Oct. 10)

3. The Judge (Oct. 10)

4. Nightcrawler (Oct. 17)

5. Kingsman: The Secret Service (Oct. 24)

6. Interstellar (Nov. 7)

7. Dumb and Dumber To (Nov. 14)

8. Fury (Nov 14)

9. The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part 1 (Nov. 21)

10. Horrible Bosses 2 (Nov. 28)

11. Exodus: Gods and Kings (Dec. 12)

12. The Hot Tub Time Machine 2 (Dec. 25)

There will be others added to this list once I see more trailers and previews but until then…
